Meyer Shows You How Green the Tokyo Olympic Games Is!

The 2020 Olympic Games, with the world's attention to, finally opened in Tokyo, Japan after one virus-delayed year on 23 July. On this green Tokyo Olympics, many Olympic products made from waste resources catch audiences' eyes.

2.jpgMedal: about 5,000 bronze, silver, and gold medals are produced by used mobile phones. Around 6 million used mobile phones and near 8,000 tons of old electronic devices are collected nationwide in two years.
3.jpgBed: 26,000 beds in the Olympic village are made from cardboard and able to withstand 200 kilograms. These beds will be recycled for paper products after the Olympic Games is closed.
Surprisingly, common plastic waste has also been recycled to produce torchbearers' uniforms and victory ceremony podiums.

The podium made of recycled plastic will be the first of its kind in Olympic and Paralympic history. In cooperation with over 2,000 markets nationwide, the Japanese Olympic organization collected 45,000 kilograms, around 1.5 million used plastics, among which 24.5 tons of recycled plastics are made into 98 podiums.

To make reliable and durable clothes and podiums, sorting out recycled plastic with pure material and the same color is the key. In the field of waste plastic bottle recycling, Meyer has pioneered the PET all-form sorting solution. It first applies visible, infrared and UV light to PET sorting in the industry, realizing the color classification, material classification and the sorting of aging flakes and fluorescent flakes in AAA-level PET.

  • Innovative bottle sorting technology, effectively identifies different color bottles, such as light blue, green, red, yellow, porcelain white and detects and removes non-PET bottles, such as PVC/PS/PC/PA/PP/PE/ABS;

  • Pioneered UV light sorting technology effectively identifies the fluorescent flakes and aging flakes which hard to be recognized by the eye;

  • Polymer sorting technology realizes the separation of more than 15 kinds of non-PET impurities, such as PVC, PS, PC, PA, PP, PE, ABS, PLA, PPSU, TRITAN.

With social responsibility on the shoulder, Meyer strengthens independent innovation for better green development, and makes efforts to realize the common vision of the renewable resources industry - "make recycling infinite, the value eternal". At last, Meyer wishes all athletes to achieve higher in the Tokyo Olympic arena!
